Basic Biscuit

1/4 cup shortening
2 cup self-rising
3/4 cup milk
Pinch of salt

Preheat to 450 F. Fork shortening into flour until blended. Then add milk, little bits at a time, until dough is just moist enough to stick together. Knead dough 10-12 times (you should have one big dough ball that is not sticky). Roll dough to 1/2 inch thick, and cut out biscuits. Place biscuits on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until lightly browned.

Make 10-12 biscuits
